South Africa committed to clean energy: Jeff Radebe

Speaking in a keynote address on the first day of the 19th edition of the African Utility Week conference and exhibition event, South Africa minister of energy Jeff Radebe reiterated that the country remains committed to renewable energy. He, however, was also quick to point out that South Africa is not yet ready to abandon the use of coal to produce electricity.

Canadian Solar, ET Energy to Build 132 MW Solar Power Projects in South Africa

Canadian Solar Inc. one of the world’s largest solar power companies recently announced the established of a joint venture with ET Energy, a global clean energy developer and operator. The joint venture will see the two companies provide Engineering, Procurement and Construction (“EPC”) services for two solar power projects totalling 132 MW in South Africa for BioTherm Energy, an independent African power producer.
